Our 70 Series replacement fascia is designed to replace the fascia located on the right-hand side of the steering wheel on a right-hand-drive model. The fascia is only designed to suit 2013-on with the face-lifted plastic dash, it will not fit the early 70 series steel dash.
The 70 Series is a great base for any type of build, be it extreme offroad or tourer. However, once you start adding accessories, you quickly realize there is not enough space for switches to control them. STEDI to the rescue!
We have developed the replacement panel to remove two switches and add eight spaces in the lower section. The two factory switches are retained and moved up into the two top spaces, and the two lower "Tall Type" Toyota switch blanks are converted to eight of our Square Type Toyota switches.
Installation is quite easy if the following steps are followed.
STEP 1: Locate the louvered section below the switch panel that will be replaced. Carefully place fingernails or wide flat implement behind the join in the panel and pull the top section away from the dash. The bottom will not need removing, it can just sit there awaiting refitment.
STEP 2: Once the lower louvered section is out of the way, place your fingertips underneath the OEM switch fascia panel and slightly pull away from the dash until you hear the lower clips release. Don't pull too hard as you may damage some original clips. Once the bottom is freed, run your fingertips along the edges upwards and unclip the top of the panel. The original white/yellow clips will need to be retained for your new panel, so if any fall off, make sure you find them and keep them aside.
STEP 3: - Unplug the wiring from the OEM plugs and leave inside the dash opening for later re-attachment. Remove your "Idle up" and "DPF burn" buttons from the original panel and locate these in the upper section of the STEDI replacement panel.
STEP 4: With a small flat-head screwdriver, lift all the white/yellow tabs on one side and unclick the other side. Transfer all of these clips to the new panel. Push each one on until it clicks on.
STEP 5: Install all of your required Square Toyota switches into the panel, making sure all of the green illumination lights on each switch are toward the top. Keep in mind that all of our OEM replacement style switches should be triggering a relay. Do not run any load through the switch at all.
STEP 6: Installation of your new panel is simply the reverse of removal. Plug the "Idle up" and "DPF burn" wiring back into the appropriate switch and offer up the panel to the dash. Line up all the clips and firmly press the panel back into place. You should hear a nice firm click. Line up the lower louvered panel with the new panel and firmly click that back into place. Follow the switch wiring instructions to successfully wire the square type switches.
STEP 7: Installation is complete! Go and show off your handy work to all of your mates and your Instagram feed, and be sure to tag us in your build!
